Pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding are truly seminal moments in a woman’s life. Unfortunately your body doesn’t remember them so fondly. What were once firm, high, full breasts have been replaced with hanging, saggy breasts with decreased volume. That tight, contoured stomach now sports a little pouch. Pockets of fat have sprung up on the outer thighs and stomach.
A mommy makeover from Dr. Lavey can bring back that pre-pregnancy body…and then some.
What is a mommy makeover?
A mommy makeover is a combination of cosmetic surgeries whose job it is to help a mother regain the body she had before she had children. Dr. Lavey treats every mommy makeover as a unique situation. When he meets with you during your mommy makeover consultation, the two of you discuss the areas you are unsatisfied with and what you’d like to see happen. It’s Dr. Lavey’s job to make sure your expectations are realistic.
What procedures make up a mommy makeover?
There is no “set” list of procedures in a mommy makeover. The procedures involved all depend on the person. These are some of the typical procedures that women opt to have:
- Breast lift — This procedure aims to bring the breasts up to a higher place on the chest. Excess skin is removed, and often the nipples are moved up to match the new higher position. To regain lost volume, a lift may be combined with implants.
- Breast augmentation — Implants are used to add volume back to the breasts that may have lost volume from breastfeeding and the simple gain and loss of weight with pregnancy.
- Tummy tuck — The goal of a tummy tuck is to tighten up the skin and separated muscles of the abdomen. Excess skin is trimmed and underlying separated muscles are sewn back together and repositioned. A full tummy tuck will involve two incisions — one at the bikini line and one at the navel. A mini tummy tuck usually only involves the lower incision.
- Liposuction — Liposuction is used to remove pockets of fat that do not respond to diet or exercise. These pockets can be on the lower abdomen, thighs, even the lower back. Liposuction may be combined with a tummy tuck.
