The Trend is Bigger — Augmentation Leads ISAPS 2015 Statistics

Breast augmentationIf they haven’t done something themselves, most people at least know a friend who has had some sort of cosmetic procedure done. Many people now openly share details of their surgery. It’s hard to remember that just a couple decades ago, if a person had a facelift or breast augmentation they would keep it to themselves. The rumors in those days were that so and so “had a little something done.”

Fast forward to today and every year more and more people are opting to “have a little something done.” Want to know how many people? OK, take the entire population of Romania and give each person some sort of aesthetic procedure. Some would have a Juvederm session, others a breast lift, others liposuction. All in all you’d have over 21 million procedures, one for every person in the nation.

That’s how many surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic procedures were performed worldwide in 2015, according to statistics recently released by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. If you have something done you’re in good company!

And once again, as it has been every year since it was introduced in 2002, botulinum toxin (overwhelmingly Botox) injections were the most popular procedure of all.
